Vasily Simchera (Russia), Director, Rеsearch Institute of Statistics, Federal Service of State Statistics, Sc.D, Professor of Economics
Born in Transcarpathia (former Hungary, Ukraine at present). Doctor of Economics (thesis - Techniques on multivariate international comparisons), professor from 1976.
In the period of 1965-1983 - Head of different statistical sections and departments in the State structures of the U.S.S.R. From 1983 up to 2000 - Chair of statistics in All-Russian Distant Financial and Statistical Institute. From February 2000 - Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Statistics (Rosstat, Russian Federation). Honored scientist of the Russian Federation (2001). Full member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) from 2001. He had published over 50 books and 350 articles.
From 1961, he is living in Moscow, and has scientific, educational and social practices.
